hello,
I have an old pc with a V3800 Asus card on it.And I want(my father exactly) to use it for video capturing through the s-video in port. But I cannot find a good program that can be used for this job and to be easy to work with. Also I've tried Asus Video Secure and I can watch video but i cannot capture it and make snapshots.
Is there someone who knows?
thnx!

It more than likely uses a Video For Windows (VFW) driver, so try just doing a search for any software that supports capture from a VFW device. There are heaps out there, since just about any webcam manufacturer's software can be configured to use a device other than their own drivers.

On top of that though, the DirectX SDK contains source code on writing a DirectShow application to do VFW and WDM streaming and capturing. So there must be a large number of applications out there using this method.

Unfortunately, I can't point you to any one 'good' software solution because I've never needed to use one other than the software that came with my cameras.

Not to sound silly, but are you sure the card supports color? I've worked with a few cards and cameras that haven't. (On purpose. Black and White gives a much better contrast than color, which can be very important for working with microscope images.)

Alrighty. I was just wondering, because I know I've had a few cards and cameras around here that were intentionally black and white. :)
