I've got some uniques to unload, trying to find a Naj's Plate to
complete my set. So far, using the trade chat room and creating games
like "Need Naj Plate" have yielded no results.

Are there other ways to make trades effectively of these sets/uniques?

I have a +3 Thunderstroke, 4 insight sticks (2 cedar staves, voulge,
coloss. voulge), runemaster and swordguard I could hopefully trade one
of these for Naj's.

I think easiest way is to offer Pgems(about 12+ but maybe
even less) to make it worth anyones while to hunt through
there stuff for one.Generally most people already have the
uniques/set items you have or dont want them anyway. If the
Runemaster is 5 socket you might have a chance selling it.

Too bad you're not on SCL Eur; I think I have 1 or 2 of these on my mules,
which I wouldn't have any problem parting with...

Anyway, on SCL Eur it's not a very 'wanted' armor, so it should be
possible to get it for a few pgems at most.

Best regards,

Patrick.

That end paragraph confuses me... typo or unrelated info? :¬/

What part don't you understand? I have a few of them, cannot for the life
of me get rid of them, even for a few pgems, and I have no indication it
would be anything different on another realm.

So if the OP really wants this armor, he should be able to acquire it
quite cheap by offering some pgems for one.

The problem is probably that most people who read his game-name don't have
that armor because they perhaps throw it away/sell it to Charsi, when
finding it...

Regards,

Patrick.

Ahhh... Ok - now I get what you meant :¬)

I thought you were saying you had some in one paragraph; then in the other
paragraph saying you wanted to buy some for pGems... made me a little
confused - lol

Interesting.

I finally traded this morning an insight thresher for the Naj Plate,
thus completing the Naj set. Not sure what insights go for in terms of
PGEMs, but I certainly can build one faster than 17 pgems doing NM
countess runs. Maybe I've just been lucking finding 4-socket polearms.

I've got close to 400 MF and just made it to act II in hell (level 72).
I have to wait a few more levels before I can use the Naj's puzzler
(staff) but it should be worth it as the full set is +3 to skills I think.

Off topic a bit, but does the difficulty level (normal, NM, Hell) make a
difference in terms of rune quality for countess runs?

Interesting, perhaps an HC vs SC difference. What does a Skin of the
Vipermagi trade for in USW HCL? (Since I see Naj's Plate as a sort of
'poor man's' version of that...)

Regarrds,

Patrick.

Insight, like most variable stat runewords, can be quite valuable, if you
have a nice roll. I.e., for an Insight polearm, close to 270%ED, and close
to the max lvl17 Meditation aura.

Spirits with a nice roll are also quite valuable.

+1 on the armor, +1 on the staff and +1 on the complete set, so you're
correct.

The thing I'm wondering about is: Why do people use this set?

It's stats are nice, but nothing more than that. And because you use a
staff, you lose the shield. Just a random selection of unique gear that
would be better:

Any nice rare +2 sorc orb, or any unique orb
Spirit Monarch/Lidless Wall/Visceratuant
Skin of the Vipermagi
+2 sorc circlet/Harlequin's Crest

Lots more skills (which is what a sorceress needs), probably more resists
too, despite the 25+50 from the complete set. I think it's a pretty
underpowered set. But, bonus-points for originality! :)

I do like the staff, as an on-switch weapon, for it's large amount of
Teleport charges for use on a non-sorc character.

This has been answered already, but I can confirm that: yes. So, if you
can, run Hell countess for runes.

Regards,

Patrick.

Already linked to from my guilds "Web links" page along with character build

Thanks. I'm curious about the source of this information. I've even seen
drop calculators (ATMA, indiablo.de, etc.) as well. But where is the
*true* source of these numbers? Has someone reverse-engineered the
software logic of the drops, or is it based on empirical information?

I don't recall ever seeing the source of this information. Not that I'm
doubting its validity, but Ronald Reagan always said "Trust, but verify."

Good point. However, apart from the Skin of the Vipermagi, I've not yet
found anything this uber. Eyeless shield has served its time, didn't aim
to make a spirit shield (but I like the idea). I have found nice belts,
boots and ammy. Most gear is MF right now. Finding the circlet and
puzzler practically back-to-back upon starting hell (first online bnet
char to play) was my motivation to complete.

Having trouble in hell right now because of weak resists. Thought that
this would serve well until I get some other gear. I'm even having probs
doing pit runs (haven't actually managed one!). The +50 resists should
do me well.

Cool - I may pass this on to my skellimancer when I outgrow the set. I'm
still trying to get the hang of teleporting.

Nice, what's the res on this Vipermagi you found? Hold on to that Skin of
the Vipermagi, because it's probably one of the best unique armors
available for a sorceress (or any spellcaster for that matter).

And the stuff I mentioned isn't uber, really. Uber is something like
Nightwings Veil, or Deaths Fathom, Crown of Ages, etc. :) What I mentioned
is actually rather mundane/cheap stuff.

>Eyeless shield has served its time, didn't aim
>to make a spirit shield (but I like the idea).

Both of my sorcs (one CL/FO, the other FB/Blizzard) use a Spirit Monarch,
and despite the rather steep Str requirements, I like the benefits it
gives. Definately recommended, if you're willing to spare the Str, or have
a good source for Str.

>I have found nice belts,

Ah, yes, finding stuff yourself is always nice, but sometimes it's also
handy to be able to ignore the lure of equipping a rather underpowered
set. ;)

One thing to also keep in mind: you lose any block you had when you switch
from an orb/shield setup to a staff. Plus there's a cheap way to gain
another +19 res-all on a shield, by socketing it with a PDiamond. And if
it's resists you want, Moser's Blessed circle is also very nice: built-in
resists, two open sockets (for 2 x PDiamond)... If it's maxed block you
want, the options are less open of course.

So what is your current equipment? (And did you mention what type of sorc
you're building, I'll take a look further up-thread after I post this.. :)

If you have problems in Hell due to resists and not-so-good gear, just
stay a bit longer in NM, and farm the usual suspects there (NM Mephisto,
NM Baal) are still able to drop quite nice stuff. Perhaps you then find
stuff which does allow you to enter Hell with more confidence.

And while an Um might look to you like something you can never acquire,
it's actually not that hard. You just need a bit of luck to scrape
together some items which you can then trade for either an Um directly, or
for some Puls and cubing up your own Um. Stuff the Um in an armor or
Helmet for some extra safety if you'd like...

On the other hand, playing Hell with less-the-uber gear is also a great
way to acquire more playing skills, because you need to be a lot more
alert in that case.

Mine used a Naj's Puzzler for exactly that purpose until I could finally
scrape an Enigma together; works rather nice. The problem with the Naj's
Puzzler were the costs of repairing those charges; with a free Teleport
(from Engima) I can finally Teleport all I want with him, and it makes him
even more powerful...

Regards,

Patrick.

So according to this all those hell shenk, eldritch, pindle runs I have done
should have gotten me something, on the rare occasions I have gotten runes
there, it is normally a nef or a tir.

In my trading experience on WHCL, depending on the resists, a Viper can
go for 6 pgems (20 res). A perfect one goes for about a Pul. 25 Res
goes for about 10-15 pgems. 30 Res for about 20-25 pgems. Maybe the
other guy had a high resist Viper.
