Build advice for a Trapsassin

Runes? I don't think you mean runes, but what you do mean, no idea.

A very powerful trapassin (Assassin specialized in the trap tree) is a
lightning trapassin.

Max Lightning Sentry, max Fire Bomb (or whatever it's called, the
first skill there, where you toss a Fire Bomb), and also put quite a lot
of points in Death Sentry. Also put enough points in Shadow Master to get
a nice durable minion. Put 1 point in Mind Blast, 1 in Cloak of Shadows,
and start playing. Put extra points in the synergies of the Lightning
traps.

Merc: Act 2 NM Holy Freeze guy.

Shop Anya in NM for pairs +3 traps and +3 shadow claws, and hope better
ones drop later on.

Very fun character to play, just try it! If you have more specific
questions while playing, fire away...

All I can say is that my Trap girl is lvl 80ish and still using her first
merc, and they play together well. The three of them- char, merc and SM-
don't have many worries. That merc has got some cool gear though- at first
she used some unique I can't remember, then got a Kuko, now has a
Windforce. And a Smoke. She's happy.

But you weren't talking about a Trapper, were you? ;-) It's worth pointing
out that A2 NM mercs aren't the only useful ones in the game.
