I have heard a few words mentioned here and there about nVidia's NV30 but I have not been able to find any good information about it.

What are we, the hardware community, supposed to expect from NV30? What are some of its advancements? What is the estimated availability/release date?

There's some tech conference in Las Vegas November 13 or sometime around then. NV30 is supposed to launch at that venue.

The reason you can´t find any info is because there´s nothing confirmed out yet. Just a few speculations and some assholes posting false info.

NVidia did release the specs comparing NV2x with NV3x in Cg, which is pretty much useless info since no games use Cg yet.

NVidia has confirmed that they will showcase the Nv30 at this years Comdex, it kicks off the 16th next month.

Competition? Yes. Kick ass? I don't think so.

Did anyone see The Screen Savers two nights ago on TechTV? An ATI representative had, in hand, a prototype 9700 with DDR2 memory. He also had video demonstrating the capability. ATI's memory eventually will scale to 550 Mhz in real clock speed (or 1.1 Ghz DDR).

OK, so that's the claim but they didn't throw the "protype" into a real computer so we didn't get to see any real benchmarks. At least ATI is making claims and showing hardware. When was the last word we heard from nVidia?

I'm hoping both companies keep producing killer video cards thus improving the quality and reducing the price for the affordable cards for budget gamers like me.

NVIDIA looks to be going down the same path 3dfx did before its death, lets hope they can come up with the goods soon, becuse if ATI gets one step ahead of them they could be down the drain

nVidia still has money coming in from the XBOX and their previous GeForce lines. nVidia isn't going to fall anytime soon.

I think both companies are moving too fast and making mistakes. ATI continues to have driver problems (did they ever get Colin McCrae Rally 2.0 to work with the 8500?) and the 9700 is having trouble at AGP 8X). nVidia appears to have slipped the delivery date of the NV30 and the new 40.xx driver is crappy on older cards.

This driver is beta, not MHQL certified

Does anyone know when the 9700 w/ DDRII is comming out? Also, when is the AIW 9700 coming out? That might reduce current 9700's prices.

Isn´t the AIW version out allready?

At MadOnion there´s a post that ATI is planning 4 more cards by the end of Q4. The 9700, 9500, possibly the R350 and a third one.

ATI has really gotten their strategy right this time. It seems the tables have turned and now ATI is the one announcing cards a bit after the competition and killing it.

Yes, but it's the driver nVidia links to from their homepage.

They are nice enough to mention, "If this POS driver doesn't work try one that does". I'm paraphrasing, of course.
