Hi
when installing XP you have the option to quick format OR to do a full format.
in win7 when you tell it to format it's only doing some real real quick format & thats it.
is it ok?!?

unless something bad happens during installation (like it doesn't finish) or win 7 won't boot the first time; you should be fine

On the new large capacity disks it would take far too long and there is no need to.
I don't think you would want to sit and wait for 1 TB+ drives to be fully formatted.

There IS an optioin to fully format everything, and you should do it, otherwise you could end up with a windows.old

Make sure you select a CUSTOM install, then there is a little blue button that reads "Drive Options", that will let you do the format.

OR to do the LONG format, you need to click "repair windows install" at the Install now screen, then you go to tools, and in DOS you can write DISKPART, then LIST DISK, then SELECT DISK *, then CLEAN ALL, then CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY.

Afterwards you click restart setup, and you will have a fully formatted drive.
