I'm thinking of getting a Asustek V8420 GF4 Ti4200 non deluxe. The question is whether now is a good time to buy or not since there are some new and upcoming VGA card next month or two. How would you guys speculate the price difference for the coming weeks. Will the Ti4200 price drop a lot in a few weeks to come?
I'm pretty sure Ti4200's aren't gonna drop much more even when you've got the NV30 coming. It's gonna drop the price of nVIDIA's old flagship the Ti4600. And probably the 4400 will go down as well. But because the the 4200 is a price/perfmance card, it won't see as great a price drop. You might see $99.00.
But it will still be a marginally better card for your money. You can't go wrong with a Ti4200.
But if you've got the money, 9700. <---Doesn't that just look mean. Weed.
I post once in a while in the community to reach the status of member and you upgraded your status to member much faster than i do. You must have posted a lot...heh...
Yea...at first I was posting a bunch of questions because I was/still am very new to computer hardware. Now I just try to help anybody I can. Especially people that haven't had any replies.
I agree with L3Txxx??(forget your name sorry). The Ti4200 will probably be this price for a while, but when NV30 comes out, I'd think they'll make a replacement for the Ti4200 w/ DX9 support. They have to in order to compete vs. the R9500. By Christmas, the Ti4200 will probably be <$100, but basically fading out and nVidia will shift to a lower clocked NV30.
I got a Ti4200 for my system, but it was mainly a stop gap til R9700/Pro become cheaper and within my budget.
...And all the King's horses and all the King's men couldn't put my computer back together again...
It really depends on the rest of your system. If you have the hardware to run it, then it's just about the best buy right now. If you have a GF2 and a XP1500+, then yeah; upgrade.
Other than that, hold off till they dip down to the $90.
[Jedi mind trick] You LOVE Palladium. [/mind trick]
The TI 4200 was a perfect choice for my system. My next video card upgrade will include a CPU/Ram/Mobo/Hard Drive/maybe soundcard upgrade. let's just say I'll be starting all over again.
I am in the same boat. Just upgraded my video card to GF4 Ti4200 64mb. Next I'm probably gonna go to the P4, unless I decide to wait and see what the hammer will do.
I no longer strive to have the fastest rig. i'm content with a system that is properly configured. What I mean by that is not running a Pentium 4 2.8 with a GF 2 MX 400 video card. I couldn't handle that lol. As long as I can play most games on the market I'll keep this setup.
