Pent 4 2.26 @ 2.51GHz 533 FSB, ATi 9700 Pro, GB 8IHXP, (2) Kingston 256MB RDRAM, 15k Seagate SCSI HDD, Viewsonic P225f, win2k.

My problem is that when i'm playing Counter-Strike (a Half-Life modification) I get this blurry line about 1 inch thick, it runs from the top of my screen to the bottom. Then re-appears on top again. My friend has the exact same setup as me and does not have this problem. I updated the drivers to 7.77. Anybody got any ideas?

Well... he has one more CD-RW then me and he has his 40GB HDD upstairs on the other PC (but still connected) .

Sounds werid..not sure though maybe something to do with your monitor.

If this happens with all ur games then I would try different drivers for ur Graphics card and also ur monitor...could be a driver conflict.

If it is just happing with CS then try a fresh install of CS.

Yeah, my thought too.
But often when somebody says same setup, they mean same GC, CPU, memory... Just needed to be sure.
