Evening all,

My girlfriend has Win2k pro...i think its a horrible OS, ran it myself for some time. Anyway, we're not able to format and install xp because she has to buy it. So, is there a way to make win2k pro look like xp? I mean the bubble effect start menu, toolbars, windows etc.

I know it is just to make it prettier, but anything would improve on how 2k looks! Is there a proggy like style xp for win2k?

Cheers,
Chris

Oh please...don't flamebait. I said my girlfriend wants it to look like xp. Besides, who cares if I want windows to look better? Why should we put up with boring, corporate crap, like the win 9x os? I think the windows brand was long due a facelift, besides i bet you use xp. All I want is an answer dude.

Cheers,

Chris

No, to the best of my knowledge, there is no way to make 2000 Pro look like faggy XP (Sorry, had to get that in there...XP has a crappy interface.

Anyways, if you want it to look like XP and have all the functionality...spend the $91 at <A HREF="http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=37-102-141&depa=1" target="_new">newegg.com</A> and buy XP Home

you could always run cygwin and get the X11 package and run kde or gnome on windows. plus cygwin gives you a way to run all the cool linux tools. If you must use windows at least put a little X into it.

Lol. no I dont run XP, I run 2000 Pro  . But I suppose I can understand where you are coming from. Some people prefer that look. I prefer my software to be as efficiently coded (i.e small) and 'refined' as possible, its just my nature - I like things to be tidy.

I agree. I plan on staying with W2K Professional as long as possible. That stupid dumbed down kiddy look of XP scares me. All that horsepower going into the bubble look and stupid effects and crap. I say make the OS smaller, simpler, leaner, meaner.... But Microsoft needs to keep piling on the "features" so people have some reason to keep upgrading eternally and keeping them rich. What a shame.
