you got a decent Rune? I think I've run her at least twenty or thirty times
before she dropped a Fal. Every previous drop was a Rune I already had in
abundance. My MF necro is 87 now, so is he high enough to expect better or
should I wait 'till he's 90? Or does clvl have no effect on Rune drops?
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've been playing this game for
years and I'm still astonished at the length of the learning curve!

The last one. Character level does not matter for what the Countess
drops...

Run the Countess if you need a lot of the lower runes, i.e. for crafting.
Don't run her expecting she'll drop an Ist every other run.
I run her to collect Rals, so I can craft caster amulets. Anything else
that drops is either fodder to be cubed up to Rals again, or it goes into
my rune mule and will also be cubed up.

these are numbers from the dropchange calculator on indiablo.de:
Hel Rune 1.8336809% 1:55
Io Rune 1.2249136% 1:82
Lum Rune 0.9323419% 1:107
Ko Rune 0.6221944% 1:161
Fal Rune 0.4701207% 1:213
Lem Rune 0.3135744% 1:319
Pul Rune 0.2360572% 1:424
Um Rune 0.157412% 1:635
Mal Rune 0.1351686% 1:740
Ist Rune 0.0901257% 1:1110
Gul Rune 0.0008193% 1:122049
Vex Rune 0.0005462% 1:183073
Ohm Rune 0.0004685% 1:213465
Lo Rune 0.0003123% 1:320197
So you were quite lucky to get a FAL after only 20-30 tries. I must have
made at least 500-1000 runs over all my Diablo play time, so I can tell you
the average numbers seem to fit..
Statistical deviations might give you a MAL after 10 runs only, or you'd
need 10.000 runs to get it.
Only reliable source for higher runes is Hell Hellforge. AFAIK, it can drop
from HEL-GUL with equal drop chances, so chance for any of these runes is
1:11..
Anyhow, Hell Countess is a good way to fill up your rune stash up to KO. My
retired ThrowBarb could do a run in about 90-120 seconds (in SP, with
Countess place close to WP), averaging 30 runs per hour. And don't forget
to cube up all the lower runes.
