Hi,
I started playing with skelliemancer. clvl 29. Do I really need
Revives? I mean, if a dozen of skeletons can slay hundreds of
monsters, (correct me if I'm wrong, don't know how it's like in
hell dificulty) do i really need monsters?
This is my first summoner necro so i don't know if revives are good.
One more question, should I max Corpse explosion or put just few points in
it?

No, you don't really need revives, but it's a cheap 1 point skill (or 2
points) if you also put a point in mages. Since a skelliemancer works by
maxing the +skills, 1 hard point in Revive gets you with a mediocre setup
alone already to 6+ revives (assuming you have +5 skills).
In some situation, more minions between you and the monsters is never bad.
Especially when you get near an end-of-act boss.

That depends on what you want. There are people who survive with 1 point
in CE, I am of the opinion you have to max it, the more radius the better,
and CE is for my skelliemancer (lvl93, 13 skellies, 7 mages, 13 revives
when going full speed) the main killer. The minions and merc are just
there to get the first few bodies, CE does the rest. Very effective.

The first time you meet Diablo, you'll feel lucky, if you killed the
infestor of souls last, and have some of his minion lord corpses left
over, to distract Big D and his fire attacks.

good point. Diablo always killed everyone of my skellies, sometimes 20
of them, with one blast of fire.

never helped me much. i had about 6 or 7 into it, with plus from
items, all went down every time with one blast. Perhaps just not
enough points into it.

If you ever plan to visit hell cows, the skells die a quick death, the
revives chew thru the cows like butter. Revives are there for the cases
where skells just arent good enough. I wouldn't try the dclone with skells
but with revived cows or other hard hitting monsters they take him down
quick.

I think revives are practical in most areas of the game, since they
let you fight fire with fire. Especially useful when you're facing
critters with ranged attacks.
They certainly help block or break up packs, and anything that gets me
corpses on the ground faster...
Pragmatism aside, revives can be fun.

Although not necessary Revives are fun. Think of them more as shock
tactics.
