i started 1st copy with game.exe and no probs. when i tried to start 2nd
copy with it's own game.exe from it's own folder i get the error.

I uninstalled all again.
I started by installing d2 and lod with one set of keys.
Made new folder, copied all contents from d2 folder to new folder.
Uninstalled d2 from computer.
Installed d2 and lod with 2nd set of keys.
opened both folders and replaced dll with one from your site.
restarted computer.
opened the diablo 2 folder and opened folder with other copy of d2.
started one copy with game.exe. No probs.
Tried starting 2nd copy with it's own game.exe
"can only run 1 copy d2 at a time"
exited d2.
tried starting again using 2nd copy instead of first, no probs.
started 1st copy.
"can only run 1 copy d2 at a time"

ok, i reinstalled yet again. I have 2 d2 keys and 2 lod keys. i put one set
on one side of desk and other set on other.
installed using keys on left side. when done put back on left side. made new
folder, copied. uninstalled d2.
installed d2 and lod using keys from right side of desk.
opened both folders. started 1 copy, other won't start, tried starting
opposie first, can still only run 1 copy.

I think I am ready to give up. Is there something I am missing?

well, i'd rather not tempt fates, wil use as last resort, just tried again
to follow the directions on gundes page, but to no avail: "can only run 1
copy of d2 at a time"
