Anyone care to venture a guess as to the value of Fleshripper on USEast
SC Ladder?

I finally found an Uber item :)

Heh... Baal dropped it in a 4-player baal run in hell. Usually I'm too
slow to get the drops, but for some reason there were 4 uniques, and I
managed to pick up the unique dagger - perhaps ppl ignored it because it
was a dagger?

Anyway, I've now got over 400 MF and I think my merc made the killing
blow with his insight stick. According to a buddy that has maphack, he
told me the item is lvl99 (apparently maphack will show item levels).

I've got an idea for a dual swing/singer barb:

1 Iron Skin
10 Natural Resists
1 Bash
1 Leap
1 Leap Attack
5 Dual Swing (bring me to zero mana use per swing)
20 Battle Orders
20 War Cry (for stun effect)
20 Battle Cry (for DR and reduced enemy defense)
1 all other war cries

I think if I get my strength to around 125 with items and my dex to 200
with items, and manage to dual wield Fleshripper, I'll have quite a
viable build. Plus, it's different. I've never used a dagger char
before.

Well, now. I guess I'll have to make this char. Now all I have to do is
find the items. I suppose I could SP it. Getting the gear in a drop mod
will take me all of 10 minutes, but how much fun is that?

Perhaps. It's probably not on the top of the 'grab-list' used by something
like Grab-It...

All items dropped by Hell Baal will have ilvl99, even a simple white
cracked sash, if he drops something like that.

This is only of interest for something you want to reroll; either a nice
rare, or a Grand Charm.

point in Natural Resists would raise the Barb's resists such that one
more point in Natural Resists was 1% more resists... the skill point
would be better placed elsewhere... like Shout.

For many builds, I agree, but he may have been aiming for a high crushing blow
setup (given the build lacks damage amplification from DS synergy or mastery),
where equipped items lack high resistances or skill adders.

Technically speaking, I think this actually requires 9 points (due to
undisplayed rounding), but 0.5 mana per swing is going to be virtually the
same as 0 mana anyway, given innate mana regeneration.

True enough. I'm interested to see how this build progresses, as it's one
I've pondered from time to time (and if memory serves, Babe completed a
fleshripper build a while ago). The high Battle Cry should more than
compensate for the relatively low AR that the barb will probably have.

Ok! I've decided to go ahead with this build. He'll be SP, HC and
untwinked, except for his endgame weapons - dual fleshrippers (I'll,
*ahem*, use Zonfire to magically "find" these awesome weapons. Details,
details...). But I can't use those 'till level 68 anyway, so I'll have
to rough it until then. His goal will be to play as far as he can
without dying, and hopefully make it through hell.

Skills:

Dual Swing (5)
Battle Cry (20)
Battle Orders (20)
Battle Command (20)
Natural Resists (10)
Plus others are required.

I'll try to focus on DR%, DR, and MDR gear, since I won't use a shield
and will have to absorb lots of damage. Killing will be veeeerry slow
until I can tank up on CB, and Open Wounds. I find that a NM, Holy
Freeze merc makes an excellent companion for a barb, so that's what
I'll go with.

I'll post back here with my a summary of events soon.
