I am building a whole new system. AMD 2600+, 512 DDR ram...I was curious as to everyones opinions between the Geforce Ti 4600 and the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. I do not know which one to go with. Also does anyone know when the Geforce 5 is due out? Thanks!

-9700pro PRO's-
Much faster than Ti4600
Dx 9 compatible
AGP 8x
-9700pro CON's-
Still alot of bugs
Power hungry
Pricey

-Ti4600 PRO's-
Fast
Reliable/Stable
Under $250

-Ti4600 CON's-
Not the fastest on the market
?

It really depends on your need. If you want the best of the best...go 9700pro. If you want the best nVIDIA has to offer right now...go Ti4600.

If you want to save some money and upgrade when NV30 comes out...go Ti4200.

Good luck.

I heard that the NV30 keeps getting pushed back. Do you know a probable dew date?

Definately next year. Probably Q1 2003.

I'm seeing a lot of "bugs" with the 9700 Pro due to power supply problems. And a few "bugs" due to the use of a defective motherboard (the P4S8X).

NV30 next year? Where did you get this? It´s being released in under a month, it might go MAINSTREAM next year, but I think (and really hope) that we´ll see some real cards by christmas.

The NV30 will be paper launched in 3 week, but we don't know when it's going to be physically available online and in stores.

NVidia'll probably pull an AMD if you know what I mean.

They are predicting a very limited supply before Christmas. They won't be up to full production speed until January at the earliest.

I thought I read in that Gamespot article that "the GeForce 5" was being pushed back to Q1 next year. Whether it's released this year or not...good luck getting one.

Yeah, it should be available en masse in Q1 2003, but some limited samples should be available late in Q4.

Either nVidia gives us a complete launch (ie. lifts the NDA and suff) at Comdex (this years Comdex) or I´m getting a Radeon 9700Pro, I think, maybe....
