I'm looking to upgrade my tired TNT2 Ultra and I have been looking around. I've been around the block enough times to realize that as soon as I buy something, it will be out-dated in a few months. I want to get the best bang for th buck and I've been looking at the 4200's and I the ones reveiewed have 128Mb. The 64Mb are cheaper and therefor more attractive to me. Pretty much anything is going to be better than what I have now but should I shell out the extra dough for the 128Mb card?

I'm not short of cash, I just cannot justify spending 400 bucks on a top of the line card which is why I am aiming a little lower.

Cheers, Max

If you plan on keeping your new card for at least a year, then go for the 128mb. It will be better suited for games next year which require more memory.

The 64mb is a good choice for it's slightly better performance and slightly lower price.

Check pricewatch.com for the best prices.

Thanks.

After reading a bunch of posts here I will have to go and check my PSU before I do anything else.

400 dollars? Here I can get a 128MB Ti 4200 for about $250 Canadian, which is about $160 US.

One quick note about pricewatch: if you are outside the U.S., make sure that you check the shipping price before you order. My parents really got burned on that once...

Yeah, the 64meg versions start at something like $120, delivered.

The 128meg version is probably $130, delivered.

Sorry for the confusion, I changed direction midway thru the post and was referring to a 4600. :) That's what I meant when I said top of the line but I should have specified.

As for my PSU, it's 300W and I have a DVD, CDRW, 2 HDD's and a floppy attached, will a Ti4x00 require more power? I just bought my PC a couple of months ago and I don't mind upgrading but I don't want to replace everything. :)
