Hell yeah...!
I dont know, if the MX 440 is the best choice, if u get an upgrade.
But..! There is a HUGE difference between the card.

I used to have a Voodoo 3 2000, and I got a GeForce 2 MX 400 now.
Big difference! So its worth it.

On the other hand. You could get something better with the money. Or something even more better with a little more money... A GeForce 3 doesnt cost that much more, or get a GeForce 4 TI 4200.
Also, your CPU isnt all that fast, so even with the best Graphics Card, there wont be such great results.

If you dont want to get a new CPU and Motherboard, or spend that much money on a GFX card, the GF 4 MX is ok. Otherwise, get something better.

IMO I don't think the Geforce MX cards are worth buying at all. They price around $80-100. You could get better performance out of a Geforce 3 TI for about the same price. I think the only card worth buying is a geforce 4 TI 4200 and up. The 4200's can be bought for around $110 for the 64mb and $130 for the 128mb version. I think the extra $40-50 is going to give you 3 times more longevity and better performance then the MX cards.

While the GeForce 4 MX card will be a much better performer then the aging voodoo 3, I don't think its a prudent buy when the Ti 4200 is not that much more expensive. The only problem is that your CPU is quite slow too and the Ti cards won't see their real potential on it. My personal advice would be to save your money, keep the Voodoo 3 until you can buy a new CPU/MB. Spending $100-150 on a new vid card when you could get a badly needed athlon XP 1600-2000 motherboard and CPU for a little more, doesn't seem wise.

-just my 2 pennies :)

Looks like your lookin for somethin in the sub $100 price range. Whatever ya do, don't get a GF4 MX. ATI 8500 64MB (non-LE version). $92 at newEgg.com You'll probably have to increase the performance of the cpu also. What motherboard do ya have?

Thats not funny at all...!!!

Here, a Radeon 8500 costs 181 Euro. The Euro is almost equal with the US Dollar.
For the MX 440 I pay 158 Euro.

In my opinion the GeForce4 MX440 is a waste of money. For not too much more, you get get a far-superior GeForce4 Ti4200. But if you're really on a tight budget, you would probably still see a noticable difference between the GeForce4 MX and your Voodoo card.

I upgraded my Voodoo3 3000 about 2 years ago for a GeForce 2 MX 400, a Gainward which was overclocked and at the time it really rocked. I have since upgraded again to a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 (128MB, again overclocked) which has itself since gotten cheaper.

The GeForce 4 MX 440 is really just a GeForce 2 with better memory.
My advice - dont go for a GeForce 4 MX - it's good, but you are replacing 4 year old technology with 2 year old technology. Why not go for new(ish) technology and save yourself another upgrade in another couple of years that will ultimately cost you more?

Nopey. I live in overpriced Greece here. we also have 18% Tax, but stuff just costs a lot to begin with.
I just wished I still lived in Singapore. They gave things away for free there. I bought my old Voodoo Banshee for 10$.

In Bangladesh, hi-end components are highly overpriced, though only 3% tax over pc components.

MSI GeForce4 Ti4200 128 MB-- $275
MSI GeForce4 MX440 -- $100
LiteOn 48x/12x/48x CD-RW -- $83
LiteOn 52x/24x/52x CD-RW -- $138

Compare these prices this US price.
