I am currently designing a "personal" website with information related to
things "in my life".
This is including information about programming, games I play, general bio &
CV, etc.

I find myself often refering people to your website (and using it myself)
and would like to ask your permission to "mirror" the FAQ on your website
(with some changes to the layout) on my site (Giving credit to you for
original FAQ & a link to your site, etc).

Who is "your"? This is a news group you are posting to.

Well! If it is intended for one person only why is it in here?
*confused*

I sure would like to appologize then. Why the etiquette is to post it
in here is beyond me, given email, IM, phones, but hey, sorry about
that...won't happen again.

The "Ping" indicates that it is to one person, and that the rest of the
group is to ignore it. You have actually broken the rules of etiquette
first by not having done so.

A number of reasons:
The address in his headers may be a spam trap.
The person may have their email heavily filtered.
It is considered rude in some ngs to simply email someone that you know
only through the ng.
The person may get a lot of emails a day and might easily miss it.

Don't worry about it. Just send $50 to me and I will make sure that it
doesn't affect your entry into the cabal (tinc).

I would usually attempt to write a mail first and only if it gets bounced
write in the group. My news provider prohibits using a mail address that
does not belong to me. Using a mail address that does not belong to yourself
is in my opinion kind of rude, because you might accidentally use somebody
else's address thus loading him with spam.

My usenet address doesn't have to be filtered, because within its two years
of use I have received less than ten spam mails thankfully.

> The person may get a lot of emails a day and might easily miss it.

I might actually easier miss it if it is here in the group than if I get it
by mail.

I would prefer it stays just with me, because for me it is easier to
maintain it in just one place. From my understanding usually mirrors are
used for pages or sites getting so much traffic that the server has
difficulties responding to all client requests quickly enough, and looking
at my web log statistics this doesn't seem to be the case. So now I am
curious: Why do you want to mirror it?

* Basically, its a good FAQ with alot of points that crop-up often in the
NG.
* My "personal" site needs various forms of information to start it off & to
grow upon.
* It wouldn't be a direct "mirrior"; more like a reformatted starting-point
that I would try to keep upto-date (and probably add things too) myself.

Basically its for starting information to "bulk-out" my personal site with
some information under the "Diablo 2" section. I would give you credit (and
a link to your site) for the original FAQ though as I dont intend to take
credit for your work ;¬)

it on my "personal" site (giving you a link ofcourse) ?

I didnt see a problem with it but thought I should ask first :¬)

I guess Im gonna have to write my own FAQ for Diablo2 then...

....you mind if I give your site an outgoing link under a title like "Other
infomation resources" at the bottom of page or is the site just for people
from this NG?
