Hi,

I got a Gforce2Mx with AMD1200. I installed 3dmark2001se and played with it a little. I scored 1588 and then I tried to repeat the test using software rendering instead of hardware. I scored 1501, less then 6% difference. So does it really mean that My card is almost useless? that I wasted my money? or am I doing anything wrong?

Yes it is the bitter truth, you have successfully managed to waste
your money on something completely useless.
I know, because I also managed to waste my money on that
pisspoor so called graphicscard.

Bad luck dude.

Yes, the ancient GF2mx is pretty much useless these days.... Even the cheap GF4mx 440 would have given you 5k 3dmarks on your setup, for only a few $ more. I suggest you try to get it returned.

then again, it depends hwat games you want to play. Just sold my mx and got a GF3 ti 500 (second hand) instead, I was happy with the GF2, Im not an avid gamer, and to be honest I havnt noticed a lot of difference, bit more smoke in games, and loads more on 3dmark, other than that......

omg
i dunno what games you play but that is a massive jump, if you compared a modern game on the two cards you'd see a difference. a big one.

I don't think you got a GeForce2MX, but rather the cut down GeForce2 MX200. I say this because my scores were much higher with the MX on a PIII 933.

It's not completely useless. I ran a GF2 MX400 and I was able to play most of my games with no problem.

And just because a GF4 MX gets you 5k doesn't mean it's over 200% better. Because of the updated technology on the GF4 MX, you can run more tests which will give you a higher score. I mean you will still get better scores than a GF2 MX don't get me wrong, but don't let it be misleading.

How much did you pay for the card? That will help to know if it was a waste.
