I finally beat that SOB Diablo

Have a Necro. Initially I think I was not putting my stat points in the
right place but I stuck with the same character. The first time I fought
Diablo was comical if not pathetic. I would make twenty runs at him and
couldn't even tell if his meter was decreasing. I pretty much thought It was
impossible and I would need to rethink how I built my character. But I
decided to just get up to L30 and get revive and see how it worked. Not well
in my opinion but during this time I found some decent fire and lightning
resist items. So today I went in as resistance beefed as I could get and
used a Fire Golem and a Cold Damage Hireling from Act III. Perfect. As long
as the Hireling was alive Big D could not do much against my Golem(I just
sat back and plucked bolts at him and kept creating a Golem if/when he did
die.), but once the Hireling died the Golem would not last long and I would
high tail to revive my Hireling. After the initial attack I had knocked
Diablo's life bar down to about 75%. It took about 8 runs to get him. The
only time I died(twice) was when I had stopped directly in front of D and
the path of his lightning(ouch!).

Question. While I am back reviving and getting potions etc. does Diablo
gradually get life back?

were you using decrep?

Not in Normal difficulty.
