Hi all,

Just have a quick question here. I've had my Sony Trinitron CPD-G400 19" monitor for a about a year now. Almost as soon as I got it, I noticed in the bottom right corner there is a good bit of discoloration...depending on what color is on the screen, it changes from blue to green to brown, etc.

I just sort of let it go, but it's really starting to bother me now. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of this discoloration? I have degaussed it and I noticed that when I do this, the discoloration decreases a lot, but it's still there. In a few minutes it's all back again.

This seems to tell me that its an EMF interference problem. I've tried moving everything electronic off my desk but it still didn't help. I'm beginning to think that it might have something to do with my UPS or the many powerpack/transformers I have on the floor. Can I make home-made shielding to put around the outside of the monitor? Or is there an easier fix?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. (sorry for the long message)

Thanks!
Andy

i had the same problem and it was the UPS. Move it a bit to the left and see if that corner changes colour. Mine is at about 1.5 meters from a 17" sony trinitron and works ok

Hi
The discolouration you see is purity error this can be caused by magnetic objects being close to the screen. The magnet could be a non shielded speaker, telephone etc or an electro magnet. Try moving items away until it dissapears, you may need to de-gauss to remove the discolouration. Some large magnets may need to be over a meter away before their effects are stopped.
