I have a 21" monitor about 50 feet away from the system and despite having a special shielded cable the flicker is still pretty bad using its maximum refresh of 85hz at 1600x1200. The video card is an ati 8500le. I assume that cards vary in the strength of their output signal and am looking for advice as to what card would minimize the flicker. Is there a reference measurement that I can look up, or does anyone have knowledge as to what card(s) provide the strongest analog output signal, which would reduce this flicker. Thanks.

Isn't signal strength standardized? 0.7-1.0 peak-to-peak voltage (whatever that means) at each of the RGB pins?

I've heard of VGA boosters but that was a while ago and they were expensive.

Did a quick search. Would something like this work for you?

Oops. That only goes to 70 Hz at 1600x1200.

Here's another one. It is higher frequency capable but doesn't say what it can do at 1600x1200.

Also, the above are splitter/boosters. Don't know if the boost will get you above original strength or if it's just intended to bring each of the split signals up to the original level.

Either of those look like they would work. Thanks. My first choice is to find out if one card is stronger than another though - the flicker on this monitor varies with each card I've tried at constant refresh rate of 85hz.

Can't help you there.
