On an MF run with my Skellimancer Baal happened to drop an Ethereal HoZ. Is
it a good idea to Zod it? Defense is 655 compared to max of 507 for
non-Eth. Or is it better to put in a Pdiamond on a non-Eth (whenever I find
one!)?

The max ED on a HoZ is 200%. If your's is close, it's common practic to
Zod it, and it's value, even unzodded, is several high-runes.
Also, upgrading it is again an option for even more defense, because the
ethereal-armor-upgrade-bug has been fixed in 1.11...
But if you have a Zod available, why worry about when or whether you will
be able to acquire a non-ethereal one...?

Wow! You just happened to find the *very best* Paladin shield in the
game?! Congrats!

This has *got* to be a rhetorical question! By all means if you *have*
a Zod, make this *etheral* HoZ indestructible. Your classic
'no-brainer' here ... ('',)

This is entirely contingent upon *finding* another HoZ (ethereal or
not)! Just about as likely as my chances of hitting a loaded Royal
Flush on a dollar machine every day for a week (I live in Las Vegas and
*NEVER* gamble as a rule). Dude, this is a Uber\Godly Paladin Shield!
Such items are extremely valuable and don't exactly drop like rain!
Best socket options for a *non-ethereal* HoZ:
1. Um - 22% enhanced resists (always a good thing)
2. Perfect Diamond - %19 enhanced resists (also good)
