Ok guys this is extrapolated benchmarks FROM nvidia show the nv30 running unreal 2003 at 103 fps at 4aa 8 af on a 3ghz p4 at 1280*1024 at anandtech same resolution slower p4 r9700 at 71 fps. This is very interesting cause thats means clock for clock the nv30 is just as powerful as the r9700. Hmmmmm so when Ati releases the r10000 around the same time as nv30 Nvidia may actually lose the performance crown after gaining it back for just a few weeks or two months at most. Don't flame me just expressing my opinion open to constructive arguments.

I think you should change the title of this thread to "extrapolated unreal2003 benchmark of nv30 vs r300 using completely different hardware".

Your point is well taken but I wanted to bring a point to the surface that is nv30 as great as it maybe is a over-hyped product and for something that comes out 5-6 months after the r9700 is disappointing cause this gives ATI time to counter.

Your point is valid as well. I was just getting sick of all the online posts yesterday with "benchmarks" of a card that won't be out for two months.

Does this remind anyone else of AMD and their paper launches?

If I'm to believe what I've read I'd say the R300 is 20% faster clock for clock, which means a 400/400 DDRII version of the 9700 would keep up.

How can you compare two cards on differently clocked CPUs when both cards are somewhat limited by todays processors?

But still, impressive. All goodies on at that resolution and it´s still way above playable. All you need the fastest CPU costing 500$ along with your new top-of-the-line GC.

Unfortunatly I find it very sad to see the NV30 clocked so insanely high at 500MHZ core. To me in the end, the R9700 could very well be better per clock, and this seems more like a Pentium 4-revamp. I don't like that idea to be sent into the graphics world, as every MHZ there is important.
