Zone Alarm Alarm!

I was wondering if anyone could help me? Zone Alarm customer support is no help at all. It has been longer than a year since I bought (40$) zone alarm pro 4. Since then, I have had a hard drive crash and needed to reinstall everything. I backed up the original download of zone alarm on cd. After re-installing zone alarm everything went smooth. The key worked and I was happy. Upon restart, zone alarm says I am running a trial version. Re-inputting the key does not work. I went to the zone alarm site and downloaded an archived version of the zone alarm I purchased. My key does not work. Had I not had a hard drive crash it would still be running to this day. Zone labs tells me that my “…hard drive crash was an event that happened and there is nothing that [they] can do for [me].” If I want my key to work I have to buy a new one. Is this total BS or what? If nobody has any ideas, or could you suggest a direct competitor of Zone Labs? I also requested to speak to a supervisor. They told me that they would have them call me. A call was never placed to me. Can you believe they told me that there is a free version of Zone Alarm and I could use that! As if I was not aware of that, but I BOUGHT the PRO version. I don’t believe in software piracy nor do I support it, but doing that would be a lot less head ache then trying to obtain something I paid for from Zone Alarm. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions are welcome.
