This is for my gaming rig (Barton, NF7-S and 9600pro). Lately I've been reformating/reinstalling alot and am tired of downloading the MS updates. This rig doesn't usually go online, just 100% single-player gaming. (I say this cuz many updates seem to be about security issues, and don't care, not online).

Do I need these updates? or can I do without and lose no performance etc.

If I gotta have them, is there a way I can download the updates onto to cd so I don't have to go online and d/l everytime?

Go to windows update. Click on the left where it says "Personalize Windows Update". Then put a check mark in the box that says "Display the link to the Windows Update Catalog under See Also". Click on the new link on the left, then on "Find updates for Windows operating systems". Pick your O/S and download your updates to a file on your computer. Then you just copy the file to cd.
