im running messenger with windows xp pro. im trying to start a voice
conversation with someone who has messenger with windows 98. the windows 98
user gets a message that says "You can't accept this invitation because a
video conference is only available on Windows XP." unfortunately, the 98
machine cannot be upgraded. does anyone have any suggestions?

The message here is accurate; Windows Messenger video (conference) is only supported on
Windows XP. Instead, you'll need to install and use MSN Messenger 6.x instead, which has a
"Webcam" function that works on all Windows versions (and of course, your contact will need
MSN Messenger 6 as well).
