Does anybody have latest info about Trident XP4? After reading Anandtech's XP4 benchmark preview a long time ago, I can't find any newer info. When they will hit the streets? Who will make XP4 cards?

I hope XP4's will have the performance that Trident claims, good drivers to work with all games. I am more interested about Trident XP4 rather than Radeon 9700, GeForce-FX or R350. I would be never able to buy them. An XP4 can rescue me from the Integrated GeForce2 MX of my nForce 420-D. The XP4 T2 seems the card for me. A DX9 card for just $79!

Well, I have found some new info about XP4 from Trident website. They have got four launch partners.

Here is detail info-

TRIDENT XP4™ EMBRACED BY FOUR PC GRAPHICS CARD MANUFACTURERS

High-End DX8.1/9.0 Graphics At Mainstream Prices

COMDEX, Las Vegas, November 18, 2002:

Trident Microsystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:TRID) today announced that a new generation of 128Mbytes and 64Mbytes graphics cards based on the XP4 will be available in production from four well-known PC card manufacturers, including Chaintech Computer Co., Ltd. (www.chaintech.com.tw), Hightech Information Systems, Ltd. (www.hightech.com.hk), Jaton Corporation (www.jaton.com) and Jetway Information Co., Ltd. (www.jetway.com.tw).
Too bad for me. I can't find Chaintech, Highteh, Jaton and Jetway cards in my country. I hope XP4 will be available from some vendor that I can buy here.

I am, for my friend, and his Xmas system. I don't know why they aren't hurrying it up to get it out very soon!
This could be the best Xmas product for its price.

Their price point is still attractive. But 80% of GeForce4 Ti4600 performance for an XP4 T3 doesn't sound as impressive as they sounded 5-6 months ago. Radeon 9700 Pro in real world and GeForce FX in paper makes it less attractive in terms of performance. The price/performance ratio still remains unbeatable, but the pure performance definately doesn't sound as good as it sounded before.

I think they are going to be launched at the same time of a GeForce-FX launch. They have just got four launch partners, so I think we have to wait more than one month- possibly 2-3 months to see XP4 cards in market.
