With the release of the 9700 Pro and its power demands, and the release of the Geforce FX and its insane cooling, I was wondering if these cards would work with the Mini-PC format? I was very interested in the Mini-PC "home entertainment center" but if it cant support the latest 3d cards it loses just about all its appeal since I mainly play games on my PC.

They will work fine. You should check out some of the Coolermaster's cases. One looks like some retro stereo
equipment. Also, Shuttle makes small cases to haul around to LAN parties. If you are using your PC in a home entertainment center and you have home decor issues (like a wife or girlfriend). I do not think she would the mind the look of the Coolermaster case.
here is a link for the coolermaster case.

Prisoner is right.you can make a mini powerful enough for gaming.i know for a fact that the shuttle ones i see all over the place can take a radeon 9700 pro in them.

no matter how hard you try, you can't polish a turd. :]

The newest Shuttle SB51(IIRC) has a pretty small PSU. One guy had a SS51G and a P4 1.8A and a Xabre400 128MB. He had his 1.8A overclocked to 2.4GHz and was getting 3D Mark scores of ~7500-8000. Not bad, but unfortunately the PSU blew out after a couple weeks.

Look at http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_content.asp?id=sb51g&page=1&bhcp=1. They test a SB51G with a P4 2.8 and an R9700 Pro. It works ... Fine ... VERY fine ...

I WANT ONE, TOO!!!

I have a Shuttle SB51G Mini-PC with 1GB DDR333, 120GB WD 7200 HDD, P4 2.53, CD-RW & a Gigabyte Radeon 9700 Pro

Works fine & gets a 3DMark score of almost 14000 in 1280x960x32

The Radeon is almost intolerably noisy though, it gives me a headache after a while. It's fine for games or if you've got music on but really grates in a quiet room

Yeah, thats what I thought when I made this post. The mini-pc they reviewed here only had a 200w power supply. It's good to know they work with the newest cards because I'm definitly getting that form factor when I build a new PC.
