radeon 9500 pro- power supply

most people seem to say that if you get a rad 9700 pro you should really have a 400w psu.is it the same for a 9500 pro, bearing in mind that i will use 3 ide devices?

I have a POS 300w PSU and 4 IDE's, runs my 9700 just fine. I think its more a case of the quality of the PSU or the quality of the motherboard.
