I just bought the asus a7n8x deluxe and it supports agp8x. I don't know if it will support a gf4 ti4200 with 4x. any advice?

agp8x is useless now and probably will be for a long time. your mb will support a 4x card but you may want to go with the 8x anyway because Nvidia upped the clockspeed slightly on them to make you "think" that agp8x works.

Nvidia's new AGP x8 cards are specced the same as i understand it, and the performance is identical in 99.99% of times compaired to AGP x4.

Now I know that an 8x AGP will support a 4X card, but will it support a 2X card? I also know that it will not support a 1x card, but I'm a bit fuzzey about the 2x speed.

Not that it truely matters since there are barely any 2x cards left out there. I'm just curious.

the agp 8x cards are not the same exact specs... just look it up. the bumped the performance up a little bit.

you see thats where it gets hazy as Nvidia say the clock speeds are identical in their x4 and x8 models

these are the fill rates, memory bandwidths etc from nvidia.com on the 4200 and the 4200 with x8
