Yep, would like to build myself a site.
My ip says I have 4 meg to work with.
The thing is my local college wants $150 for a 2 day crash course on "web creation". Too expensive for me :-(
Some of you guys certanly know of a or many good, simple, affordable "how to" books on the subject. Any suggestions please.

Sincerely
Danny

The best thing to do is get hold of microsoft front page - Makes webpages - all you do is click, drag, type and basically make it look nice - don't need to know HTML code - buts its there on a Tab if you want to mess with it. You work on a wysiwyg interface - That way you see what your page is looking like as you make it.

It's the easiest one to start with, then move onto hotmetal which is better and more complex - then move to the daddy - Dreamweaver - Makes stunning websites - thats what I use. Thats when you can start adding stuff like Flash movies.

but that would of course require macromedia flash...

Exactly - Thats for when he's more advanced and wants to do this kinda stuff. If he's advanced enough to want to use Flash then he'll want a better web developer.

<b>DO NOT USE FRONTPAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!</b>

It has very sloppy code. You are much better off just learning how do it with notepad.

Yeah but for a first time user who has no idea about code (no insult intended pike) it's not bad.

It's ok for getting the general hang of things.

But have you gone to pagetutor? It's really simple and it'll help you get a nice looking page up. It's for beginners.

Plus if you use notepad and then decide later on you want to use dreamweaver or fro... whatever you have clean code that works well with both.

Thanks you guys, you always come threw :-)
Will check out "tutor" and also "front page".
Is front page included in "ms office 2000 professionnal edition", cause this is all I have.
How about Corel office 7, anything in that suite?
Thanks again, will be getting on it.

I think front page is in the office suite yes. Corel7 - use that to creat graphics, backgrounds etc for your pages - just save them as gif's or jpegs.
