like many people, the main reason I wait for geforce fx is to get the geforce ti 4600 at a reasonable price. :)

Do you really think it´s wise to get a Ti-card these days?

Right now there's 2 choices for high-end cards. Ti4600 or R9700 Pro. There's a huge 100 buck or more gap in price. However if you buy R9500 Pro you get DX9! But when will the DX9 games come out? It's ok to buy the Ti4600 but don't expect it to last so better save up a few more bucks for the R9700 Pro unless you really need a temporary faster vidcard than what you have.

a few more bucks up from Ti4600 is the R9700 non-pro...

DX9 is worth it if you aren't gonna upgrade for at least 2 years. Well hype is definitely not worth it but we see that the R9500 Pro vs the Ti4600 isn't a bad match either. oh btw if you mean the $100 is not worth to get the R9700 non-pro then you are wrong. The R9700 non-pro is a good buy and is near R9700 Pro performance. Besides street prices and small time shops will lessen the burden of spending too much.

I'll definitely disagree that the R9700 Pro is a hype and not worth the 100 bucks. It's the first card from ATI since the not so appreciated R8500 release. For once there's almost 0 flaws to be found on the R9700 Pro. I take that back, there are no flaws but would've been better if improved, i.e. DDR-II.

All I know is hype or not I'll enjoy my AIW 9700 pro. you buy stuff to satisfy your needs and so far the only avaliable card I see that can satisfy both my gaming and multimedia needs is the AIW 9700 Pro.

I mean that if you have two cards identical in every way except one supports dx9 and the other does not, the one that supports dx9 is not worth $100 more. That is equivalent to saying that dx9 is not worth $100.

The R9500PRO is a much more worthy buy and over time should beat the Ti4600.

It's amazing that I could pretty much build a perfectly good PC for about the same money as I'd spend on a top video card.

Still, thanks for the estimate.

There's always a large price jump for buying THE BEST of anything, especially computer parts, which I usually call the Idiot Tax. Truth be told, the home power user just doesn't need THE BEST anything... That's really only for review sites and a few other limited situations.

Hey Flamey, we're gonna be using Cinema 4D next year in College, albeit on -get ready for barf- Mac 800MHZ G4s.
Have you had any experience in it and can tell me how it is compared to other 3d rendering applications?

Some of you said that you were dissapointed by ATI not using better memory for the 9700pro. Well lets think about it shall we. They knew at the time that NVidia had announced going to .13micron, they knew this would buy them time, atleast 1/2 a year to a year to take the lead. So why not do it with just a substantial enough lead to make people pay extra for the car. Then when Nvidia comed out with their next card you could do some things to your card (like DDR-II) for example that would boost your performance even more and you could still compete without even bringing a new card into the market.
