Hi everyone. I just bought vanilla Civ 3, and I've seen all these
references to patches that came out a while back. What I got to
wondering is, do later copies of the game get made with the patches in
them already, or do I still need to get the patch? If the copies do
get updated as they are produced, how can I tell which update I own?

The latest for vanilla civ3 is 1.29f
It is displayed in the lower left corner of the main menu screen

The repackaged Civ3 versions (game of the year or gold edition) have
the last patch (1.29) for the original Civ3. So does the Play The
World expansion. Conquests includes the last PTW patch.
On the bottom left corner of the main menu screen you can see the
version number.
