I just bought a radeon 8500 and hooked it up to my widescreen tv using s-video, and i cannot get the radeon to display a widescreen resolution properly. Every time i do, it displays that widescreen res in an 800x600 window on the tv, and i have to scroll the desktop by moving the mouse. I looked and the radeon reckons my max tv res is 800x600..now how can that be seeing as it is widescreen??

any help would be greatly appreciated.

oh and if you know of any good, cheapish, widescreen tft flat monitors (or plasma's or whatever) that are a decent size (20-28" or so) could you please give me some info about them? because if this does not work i will purchase a new television i think.

thanks

Not sure why you can't get 1024x768 resolution.

If you have HDTV then your probably want ATI's HDTV Component Adapter for the 8500/8500LE which can do the 1080i and something called 16:9 resolution.

I can't seem to find any specifications at ATI's site. All I could find is a couple of troubleshooting links. Click below.

There's a picture of the HDTV Component Video Adapter at the ATI online store. Here's the North America link. Picture is in the middle right. (Sorry but the hot link doesn't work for secure servers. You will have to cut & paste).
