Some people have a problem with InstallShield when installing Civ 3
(as well as many other programs) and receive the following error
message:

"error installing ikernel.exe"

I tried all the posted solutions to fix this but nothing worked until
I tried the following, which I'm posting here so that others might
find it useful in future.

Insert the Civ 3 CD and wait until you see the install screen. Now
browse to C:, Program Files, Common Files, InstallShield, Engine, 6,
Intel 32. Position this window so you can see it together with the
Civ 3 install screen. Double-click IKernel.exe, then quickly click
Install on the Civ 3 startup screen, then quickly click IKernel.exe
again. The installation should now start working.

Try running AdAware, SpywareBlaster or similar programs (do a Google). I
can hardly believe it's a Windows problem - you might have some malware
installed behind your back...
