Unlock a TELUS i730 to work on Boost?

Anybody know what's involved with unlocking a TELUS i730?

The goal is to use either a Boost or a Nextel SIM while I'll be in the
US, without the need to purchase new hardware.

I've seen a few guides that mention unlocking Nextel and/or Boost
phones, but they seem to imply that the technique won't work for phones
locked to other carriers.
