My old monitor gave up the ghost a weeks time ago, and I purchased an LG
Flatron ez T710BH.
When I start up Conquests, there's a black frame around the graphics - I
run my desktop with a standard res of 1152*864, as it looks much metter
than vanilla 1024*768.
My old monitor could store different resolutions and auto-change when
needed, but now it seems I have to fiddle around for several minutes with
the OSD to get the picture right.
Now to the question:
Is it possible to change CIV's resolution in an .ini-file or similar, and
if, what has to be changed? Any other solutions to this?
I own quite a few games, but the problem only occurs with CIV3.

Hi
Yup this is very easy to do
Go to your civ3.ini or conquests.ini or whatever the PtW one is called (
Sorry have only run Conquests since last format, so haven't created older
ini files ) and add this line
KeepRes=1
Incidentally there are a few other ini file tweaks you can find them in the
latest patch Readme

There is an *.ini file in the Conquests directory. Can't remember the
exact name, or location (sorry).... but, if you add the following line
to it:
KeepRes=1
It will keep/use the resolution setting of your desktop when running
Civ. You might check the http://www.civfanatics.com site/forum(s).
