8500 Black Screen?

hey all,

I just updated my drivers for my radeon 8500, and when I restarted all I got was a black screen after the Windows XP Professional loading screen. So I went into safe mode to uninstall the drivers, but XP said this item is needed to boot. So I just downloaded the drivers I had before and reinstalled them over the new ones, yet, still a black screen when I start up. So now I'm on safe mode with networking, and that's pretty much all I can do.

Please help, I'm at a loss for answers.

do you see anything like bios screen?, then widows loading , then when you get into windows it goes, blank?
or is it blank all the time?

sounds like perhaps your monitor refresh rate could be set too high, and when it changes resolutions when it goes into windows you monitor gets kicked into standby
