Many differences, look at some youtube videos and read some articles.
Windows 8 is not released yet, so for the average person it does not exist yet.
Don't try to use it for work or critical uses, but install it on something you can toy with.

Windows 8 is more streamlined for users, that being said a lot has been removed from windows 7 to make windows 8 more light and have that good first impression. A lot of terrible removals was the inclusion of Media Center as an upgrade pack., another is the removal of DVD codec from the OS base, so you'll now need to use 3rd party software, which I'm sure Microsoft is willing to cough up especially with that app store of theirs.
