Nvidia is not releasing something soon till February 2003.

It is sure that next nVidia card (GeForce-FX) will outperform Radeon 9700 Pro. But the difference is not sure.

Ok so seriously.. lets put all Ati VS nVIdia hate'ing aside..

my new system will be top-notch, nForce2 board..with xp2800, 1 gb pc3500... ok.. Do i stick with the GeForce 4 ti4600? get the Ati 9700pro? or wait for the geforce FX? because i want to become seriously into heavy gaming... stuff like splinter cell, MOHAA, NOLF2..

stick with what u got and wait and see. yes the FX may/will beat the ati 9700 but ati will be releaseing a new card soon also. not sure what date. untill directx 9 is released and more games are written to take advantage of it none of these cards: FX or 9700 will show their true potential. Save the money now on the video card untill prices come down on the newer ones.

no you don't understand... i don't have anything right now..

i am using the worst system in teh world!!

533 mhz celeron, onboard audio and video..128 mb pc100..lol 15 gb 5400 rpm HD

that's why i was just wondering to get the Geforce 4 ti4600, or that ATI.. but will the Geforce Fx blow away both of those cards?

Once the FX's and ATI's come out, they'll be like $500! New video cards start at ridiculous prices! Although I've always been an NVIDIA fan, the 9700pro kicks ass, so what you need to decide: How much extra performance am I getting for paying an extra $200? Is it worth it to me? If you've REALLY got patience, like me, wait till the summer when FX will be really cheap, and still likely powerful.

9700pro will rock on the 2800+ and nforce2.you can get it for $325-$350(retail)on pricewatch.if the FX does sell for $500,i don't think the performance difference would be worth it.for $200 the 9500pro is hard to beat. i have one,my friend has the 9700pro.we play the same games you mentioned and i can't tell the difference between the two.

well FX is out of the question, cause your right, i aint paying over 400$ for a card.. 425--430 is my limit, no way am i going into the 500$ range, also time is a factor, I am running ONBOARD VIDEO, my pc is a [-peep-] hole emachine 533ir.. the video is horrible, i never play any games, so basically I personally wouldn't be able to tell the difference, because a geforce 3 ti500 would be an AMAZING performance increase.. so basically, which is better.. the geforce ti4600, or just go with the 9700 pro? how are the bundled packages?

also forgot to add, i ment i never play any games only because of my cARD.. i play an enormous amount of console games.. only because of my hardware on my PC.. this is why i want a top of the line system... i was just debating on going with the Geforce 4 ti4600 and the 9700 pro..

ok not only for gaming, but does the 9700 pro beat the gf4 in Video editing stuff, and doing that type of graphics?

The GeForceFX is going to be released in 2 cards: one for $499 and the other for $599. I might be a hundred too high, but I'm pretty sure I got that right.

If you're building it now, you probably should get the 9700 Pro. I don't see the point in a 4600.

DirectX 9 is out btw.

Have you been with the times and checking benchmarks?
The R9700PRO can be as much as it 3 times better when you use image enhancing techniques!

Whatever you buy will be beat by the next in 6 months or less. waste of time talking about it (waste of money trying to keep it up to date). Just get the best what's out right now and be happy.

If you're gonna spend 420-450 on a vidcard get the All-In-Wonder 9700 Pro. You'll love the gaming and multimedia power combined. I own one myself and compared it's multimedia features with the ATI TV tuners and Leadtek Winfast TV2000 XP and it the AIW 9700 Pro is superb at everything it does. It has Morrowind as game bundle and Pinnacle Studio for DVD/VCD authoring. The reason for getting the AIW 9700 Pro is in 3-6 months something new from Nvidia and ATI will come out and will beat the AIW 9700 Pro but it's multimedia value will still remain valuable.

It is even more impressive that the card uses the same clock speeds as its R300 sibling!
That is a major value for future AIW owners, the card plays games same as the R9700PRO and offers all the house multimedia value.
