I just noticed in this epic Conquest game that bombers are fatal. I
had rarely built them because their range is so limited I would rather
just send in tanks. Between being fatal and leaving permanent terrain
damage they are far more lethal then they use to be. I was in a war
against civs with size 30 cities and they came in very handy. Later
in the game I built stealth bombers and air craft carrier until nukes
where launched at me.

I also noticed ships and cities shooting down my planes. I take it
some ships have anti-aircraft on them.

More about : bombers fatal

In Conquests they definitely enhanced them. It's been a while, but
PTW may have in a later patch, and in any case, scenarios in PTW
always could allow that.

Conquests adds an air defense capability for units. The new AA
ability makes it riskier for air attacks against them, and there are
air-defense specific units.

I don't use them much so I guess I didn't notice. They did finally
fix the Stealth bomber bug where the enemy could capture them.

The terrain damage is definitely new. The square is damaged beyond
what it would be without improvements. And the damage is not the
same as pollution. For nuked cities with bombardment damage I had to
clean up both the damage and pollution. It takes a really long time
to clean it up and the square isn't much good until you do. Before a
city built on grassland could at least maintain a population.

My stealth bombers where shot down quite a bit. They where still well
worth the damage the they inflicted though.
