They're both pretty darn close, but the 8500 is a bit better. Personally I would go with whatever is cheeper.

Actually, it does not. In fact it actually has worse technology due to the fact that the pipeline is stripped down so each only can do one texture per pass compared to the 8500's 2 per pass.

You only die once, don't mess it up.

I think FSAA might be a bit better on the 9000, but who really needs it? If I want a blurry picture, a few beers can do that! Seriously, the 8500 is faster, the 9000 was meant to be a CHEAPER card!
