Boot time raise after defrag!!!

I use bootvis to speed up my boot time, and that works very well. But if I defrag the drive, then my system takes 2 times more time to boot. Even running bootvis again doesnt help. I've downloaded the latest version of perfect disk because it is supposed to optimize boot time, but no luck. How can this be possible?

So am I going to live without defrag my system partition?

thanks!

I don't know anything about bootvis but the first thing I would check is the size of the swap file. Seems like the first thing that always slows booting of windows is that damn swap file.

Try disabling virtual memory, then reboot and run disk defragmenter. After that reenable VM and set a minimum and maximum size.

Also you should go to a command prompt and try doing a defrag with the following switches:

defrag c: -f
This forces Windows to defragment the drive.

defrag c: -b
This defragments your boot files.

hummmbut if that dont works, then I'll be stuck with slooooow boot again!!

I wont defrag it while it's running good..I'll wait and if I reinstall WinXP some day, I'll do some tests!

Thanks all!
