Hey I was wondering if anybody else got the new drivers for the radeons that came out today.

http://www.futuremark.com/news/?newsarticle=200212/2002122800#200212/2002122800

I downloaded them and was very excited, because all ati drivers i've ever used, my monitor has always ran at 60hz for some reason now it runs at 75hz! But of course, I have the worst luck in the world and the video card is almost useless. Most games don't identify the card and can't run it in opengl mode. Q3a and RTCW don't run it, they give you an error, couldn't initialize the opengl something, and 3dmark 2001 says it can't find a video card. Also whenever i scroll, like right now on internet explorer, instead of it just scrolling, it refeshes the entire screen, its hard to explain, i'll just sya its gay.
Of course, I don't know if this is all the drivers, because the drivers came with some overclocking thing and i didn't waste time, plus my computer is overclocked a bunch anyways and nothing ever works anyways. Someone tell me if you ahve the same trouble, I'm using a radeon 7500

My parents warned me to wear earplugs when shooting a rifle, but never using my computer.

Well i looked at the problem a little more in depth, and the overclocking utility didn't even work, so that wasn't it. SO i installed the old drivers, the catalyst 3.0 drivers, and now everything is normal, besides my refresh rate, which is at 60hz again. If anybody else has better luck, let me know.

The 60Hz you are having is probably caused by Windows XP, IF you are using Windows XP. When running games Windows XP sets it to 60Hz regardless of what is set when you are out on the desktop. Grab Power Strip or search the net for "Windows XP Refresh Rate Fix". I am using Power Strip shareware and it works fine for me.

A quick search on NV Refresh Tool 2.0 on the web will get you the small and easy to use program. You install it, open it, and just have it integrated the refresh rate you desire, and all games, including OpenGL will run at the desired refresh rates. That's how I got my OpenGL games like CS to run at 85Hz on my 17" monitor.

Well I have windows 98 SE, but i'm downloading powerstrip and we'll see if that helps. Also, while you guys are helping me with some problems with my video card, for some reason my computer insists on running with 2 monitors, even though I only have one, so monitor # one is mine and the other is defualt monitor on radeon 9700, even though i only have radeon. Really it hasn't bothered me at all, and I don't think it hurts performance, but if either of you guys know how to fix it it'd sure be nice.

I got powerstrip, and i set it to 75hz, hit ok, the screen flashes like usual, it says do you want to keep this, i hit ok, and it goes back to 60hz. With windows, i just set it on 75hz and it does nothing. Any other suggestions?

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly sure this problem was fixed in WinXP SP1.

I believe it only addresses Direct3D refresh rate. New nVidia drivers have the fix as well. I think ATi's new drivers also finally have it.
According to NVRefresh Tool's FAQ, this problem is actually a safety method by MS to insure no monitor gets screwed when you put a new one that is cheaper, in the event of a loaner or something.
