switch game mode ingame?

Hi there,
I have a PBEM game going on since October with three friends and four
computers. Now, everybody´s in town for christmas and we´re going to meet
to play it as hotseat (=PBEM, just continuing and using our password it´s
no different to hotseat)... BUT: is it possible to continue as a LAN
game, so everybody uses his own computer to play it? If yes, is it
possible to switch later back to PBEM, too? How? I´d like to know if
anybody tried that out.
