Reduce size of taskbar

I just moved an item to my quick launch and my taskbar became twice it's height how can I get it back to it's normal size.

Make sure the taskbar isn't locked (right click on the bar and uncheck lock the toolbar). Then place the pointer on the vertical border between quick launch and the rest of the task bar and drag it to the left. This will shrink the quick launch area and cause the extra icons to appear in the drop down list.

With the taskbar unlocked, hover your mouse pointer over the top of the taskbar until it looks like a double arrow pointing up and down. Left click and drag down. Then lock the taskbar so it doesn't happen again.
