Moving a stack

When I move a large stack of units to an adajacent tile it takes forever.
Hovever if I move the same stack to some distant tile it's almost instant.
(All tiles railroaded)

Is this a bug with my setup or a bug with the game?
Does it happen to you?

I am guessing that when moving between adjacent tiles you are shown
the movement of each unit, which is what takes a long time. When
moving to a distant tile, the game skips all of that animation and just
moves the units. Is there an option for not showing your own units'
movement? That could help.
So not really a bug with the short distance movement, more of a
feature to save time on those long distance moves.

Happens to me too. I usually avoid one-tile movments if I have railroad.
If necessary I move a few tiles away, then back to the destination.
