When ever I purchase a new pc I get 3 disk:

1) floppy start up thingy (This I understand)

2) a cd in a cardboard that "Windows Starts Here". I note the instructions on the disk cover say "if setup does not start, click START, and then click RUN". Now how could you click "start" if windows wasn't yet installed?

3) fancy looking disk (hologram etc)

Please explain what to do with #2 and #3 cuz I'm havin a butt load probs here

Thanks

3) fancy looking disk (hologram etc)

If ya look real close, you'll notice that this is your Windows CD. They don't use regular labels anymore... it's completely holographic.

Thanks, yup noticed that. It's the only one I seem to be able to install from. So what's the purpose of the other CD? the one I refer to as #2 above

I had a Toshiba notebook that had two Windows 98 CD's.

During the installation, you had to swap the CD's as instructed.

However, I have had other programs that came on two CD"s but only ever needed to use one.

I've never used the Windows 98 Starts Here CD... so you're on your own with that one. So far as I know, it's completely unnecessary and can be ignored. I've never had problems not using it... but if you're curious, just throw it in once you have Windows installed.

More than likely just some fancy-schmancy Windows tutorial program.

Most systems don't need the floppy as the 3rd CD is bootable.

Don't ignore it. There may well be useful utilities on that CD. It doesn't hurt to look into it.

""if setup does not start, click START""

they are saying what they think is appropriate in that situation. in my case, i don't really need a refrigerator if i am not smoking, so i saw two flying crocodiles one of which was green and another was swiming to the Africa.

..this is very useful and helpful place for information...
