Slow PCI performance w/ VIA

Has anyone seen this? I can't believe that PCI performance under VIA chipsets has been this bad and no one noticed.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank all of you guys that posted info pertaining to mobo/cpu's preferences.
After reading through here quite a bit, I think I've settled on buying a K7S5A w/XP cpu.
