Are you saying you are given the option, but the keys don't work, or the screen crashes, or just doesn't respond?

In one section of the BIOS, there is an option to enable the RAID controller. Perhaps its not enabled.

I have one of the Asus A7V133's and had a problem recently with a "Maxtor" 40 gb drive when connecting it to the built-in Promise raid controller.

It seems that since Maxtor merged with Quantum they are repackaging a lot of Quantam drives in Maxtor boxes with Maxtor labels and Maxtor drive manuals.

This caused me a problem since the jumper settings on the two brands were different, and no mention was made in the manual that if the drive is the only drive on the ide channel _and_ connected to a raid jumpers 4 and 6 need to be set.

I would suggest you make sure you definitely have a Maxtor drive (since the two companies use slightly different jumper settings). A retail boxed Maxtor drive will contain a pink slip mentioning the drives origin.

Also, if the drive is the only device on the ide channel make sure you use the correct jumper settings.

I hope this helps a bit.

Is RAID disabled in the BIOS? Is the keyboard plugged in? (I had someone do that here at work a few days ago, thought there was something wrong with our software and the keboard wasn't plugged in).
