Most of the cheats are obsolete. (Removed in a patch)

As to the best civ, as you poll enough people, you'll even find a
supporter for England in Vanilla. :D

Basically, some people looked at UU only, others look at traights only.
(Obviously, this makes a much difference for America.)

And how useful expansionsic traight (and weather or not it's better in
Conquests than Vanilla) is also a matter of controversity. The
seafaring traight in Conquests also has a similar level of
controversity.

Personally I think traights matter more than UU, but the UU should also
be considered. But also, thought should go into how that UU is meant to
be used rather than just dissing the ones that aren't intended for
direct attacks.

So, under Vanilla / PTW, I'd say the Industrious civs have a huge edge
over the non-industrious civs. And also Religious is a close second, so
that would make Egypt the best. (Now there are people who can't stand
the Egyptain UU, but I say that the intended use of the WC is to build
Knights faster. [As WCs and upgrade])

Under Conquests, the Agricultural civs have a huge edge over the
non-agricultural civs. So much so, that I avoid playing the Agricultal
civs in SP games.

It depends. Lately I've been playing as Persia, fast research and
production.

No clue. Is the game too hard that you need to cheat, or why would you
care?

You'll find different players like different civs for different reasons.
There is no single 'best' civ.

Never heard of these. My advice is to ignore cheat sites.

No I dont NEED to cheat. There are times when Things Go Bad real fast
(for reasons my feeble brain never understand) and I would like to
change their bank balances to -60k or slam a mech infantry unit up
their musketeer's butts.

I miss Darklands =(

Well, depending on your actual goal, you might be able to get advice
here on (a) why things went real bad without you knowing they would,
and/or (b) how to stop (a) from happening.

There are plenty of reasons why people use cheat codes.
For starters the life is too short. There is one more pragmatic
reason to cheat with Civ AI: the game is unevenly paced because AI is
rather dumb. The early survival is hard for human player at higher levels,
but then the end of the game is too easy. I like to play modern-era techno
wars, but it's only possible at the level of difficulty where it's hard
to survive early. So here and there I cheat, like abusing save-restore
privilege of human player. No big deal: it's not about being civ-smart,
just about having fun.

OK, that's wierd, but whatever. For me, if I can just change the flow
whenever I want, what's the point of playing. But as you say, whatever
floats your boat.
